ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Mizoram Centre, Kolasib had organized three days training programme on “Capacity building of mizo farmers through scientific cultivation of turmeric for nutritional security and livelihood improvement” from 6th – 8th March, 2025 under AICRP on Spice Project. A total of 53 selected farmers (26 Female and 27 Male) from different districts of Kolasib (Meidum, Bukvannei, Saiphai and Kolasib) have attended the training program. Resource persons from ICAR Kolasib Centre (scientists and YPs) gave lectures and field demonstrations on scientific techniques for growing ginger and turmeric, weed management techniques, pest and disease management, post-harvest technologies, value addition and their economic significance in generating sustainable income and enhancing farmers' livelihood. A field day was set up in the farmer's field for one day during the training. Farmers-scientists interaction and input distributions (ginger, turmeric and sprayers) were held on the last day of training.
